Lip Augmentation

A Filler such as Juvederm™,as well as fat injections are commonly used to plump up lips. For fuller lips, it takes only a few minutes for the injections. If a synthetic fillers is used, prior to the procedure, you must be tested to make sure your body can tolerate fillers.

DO THESE INJECTIONS HURT?
Most patients will feel a slight discomfort, such as a stinging sensation. Your lips will be numbed with ice, or a local anesthetic will be included with the injection. Most patients report a stinging sensation.

WHAT ARE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
Some people experience temporary burning or stinging. At first, your lips may look too full when you look in the mirror because they're swollen. This improves within a couple of hours.

ARE THERE RISKS?
Some people have allergic reactions -- rashes, hives, or flu symptoms.

HOW LONG WILL MY LIPS LOOK FULL?
Usually, fillers and fat injections last about three to six months.

WHAT ABOUT PERMANENT IMPLANTS?
Even though these have a higher price tag, some patients prefer them because they don't have to undergo repeated injections. Removal, however, is an option if you don't like the way they look. Placement of lip implants is a simple in-office procedure. Local anesthesia is used. The implant is inserted below the surface of the skin under the lip line through two small incisions, which are sutured.
